Power engineering
The R&D Center science-based potential generally comes to light in the manufacturing methods developed for producing electric steel items widely used in the power engineering sector: transformers, electric motors, generators, and other electric units.
A transformer is an important electric circuit element that, in many respects, is involved for controlling efficiency of electric power transmitted and converted distantly.
Global trends of increase in power performance and decrease in greenhouse gas emissions entail production of high-efficiency transformers. High transformer performance depends primarily on characteristics of applied materials, particularly, transformer electric steel.
The market yearly imposes more and more requirements to highly porous transformer steel (HTS) properties so that to minimize specific loss of power as a result of magnetization response. The R&D Center team implements the projects focused on obtaining metal that can maximally satisfy our clients’ requirements.
Electric generators and motors convert mechanical energy to electrical one and vise versa. The core element of the above units is a magnetic conductor made of dynamo electric steel.
The R&D Center continues developing various steel grades applicable in different electric motor types and designs. Research works are principally focused on high magnetic induction, low loss, high strength, excellent electric insulation.
With the electric car market developed, more consideration is given to rising high-frequency electric motor efficiency. As for dynamo steel used in motor magnetic conductors, specific requirements are imposed to improved strength, high induction and low magnetic loss. Ordinary, one of the parameters increased causes downfall of the rest two ones. The R&D projects are intended for developing the material to be capable to exhibit a stated level of mechanical properties while loss of power as a result of magnetization response is minimized.
