Business targets
A comparative analysis of transformers showed an increased Building Factor (BF) from 2 to 5% when NLMK electrical steel is used.
This project will enable: identification and elimination/reduction BF affecting factors; increasing of electrical steel quality as well as raising competitiveness.
Implementation features
BF affecting factors are divided into two categories.
The first category includes inaccuracy of rolled products, surface roughness before an insulation coating is applied and the tension that occurs when a forsterite layer is formed. Those factors can be mitigated by adjusting different stages of steel manufacturing. The second group includes the factors that transformer manufacturers can face.
Reducing the impact of the factors from the first group and developing recommendations to reduce the impact on BF of those from the second group in cooperation with NLMK key customers will contribute in reducing this indicator.
