Tasks and areas of activity

One of the tasks to develop new steel grades and advanced coatings is assessment of formability by mapping the real shape of metal.

Behavior of metal with a sample restricted within the die can be different from that when slow strain rate tensile tests are performed.

Additionally, surface condition and antifriction coating properties are of significant consequence since they can relieve or obstruct sliding capacity within the die.
Formability of new and standardized types of products is measured by the laboratory team for:

01
obtaining running and forming force data to simulate car component production processes with special applications
02
testing behavior of metal while shaping full-sized samples
03
analyzing metal flow mechanisms while forming
04
tribology (analysis of interrelation between relatively displaced solid deformed bodies)
05
analyzing liquid coolant characteristics with heating capacity, friction coefficient and friction temperature tested
